After over 10 remarkable years in business, Hillcrest Biologicals and Microbiology Reference Laboratory (MRL) were both acquired by Focus Technologies in 1989. At this point one of the original founding partners left to start Fuller Laboratories. Within 5 years this new endeavor had grown and moved to a larger facility on Truslow Avenue, pictured above, to afford space for a growing manufacturing capacity.
Over the next 16 years the product focus has narrowed to vector-borne and zoonotic diseases, a once-small niche area that has grown continuously in every region of the world. To continue expanding the field of diagnostics in this area the company is expanding both R&D and ELISA Production into a new facility a few blocks from the Truslow facility (see below). This additional space will also afford space to continue development of a strip test product line as a newer generation of vector-borne diagnostics.
